to all good places, there must be a way to get there. but little do the agents know that what's in store for them is a long arduous challenge....

Before we get to headquarters, we need to board the plane. There is a row, straight, of 10 seats. You need to order yourselves from front to back. There is a specific order, though. There are numbers on the seats, which correspond to your favorite numbers, but unfortunately, they have been rubbed off. Nevertheless, I have the order. You have each been given a clue. You may share these clues with the rest of the group, but you may NOT tell anyone your favorite number. I can help you by giving you the position of One person, but you may only do this once, and it will cost you $US 1. Should you complete this task, $US 5 will be added to the pot. The List is due to This Forum by Wednesday, January 16th, at 20:00 (8 PM) Eastern Standard Time. -jpringman

Here is my clue. I can't make any sense of it yet, but maybe alone with everyone else's clue it'll work itself out. *The person behind you has a favorite number which is the same as your ones place.* -michael

All right here is my clue: *Your favorite number has the same amount of digits as the person in front of you.* -ethan

Here's mine, even with the 3 together, I'm not making too much sense of it. *The person in front of you has a favorite number in which the ones place is the same as your favorite number. * -alison

Alison, it sounds as if ours could be linked some how... our clues are reversed. I am (in theory) in front of you, which means that if your favourite number has 2 digits, the second digit is the same because it is the "ones" in terms of place value. -michael

where the heck did you people get your clues?? I need mine so we can get the money!!!!!!!!!!!! -justin

Justin, your clue should be in your personal forum. -michael

oh fuckin crap. how are we getting into those!!!!!!! @#%$ balls, this is not how I wanted to start the game -justin

*The person behind you has an even favorite number.* -omar

It has come to my attention that some of you have forgotten your favorite numbers. Shame on you. Because this is the first day, though, I am going to give you a break. Tomorrow at approximately 20:00 EST, you will be receiving the favorite number you said on your application. I am doing this with NO PENALTY. Consider it a gift. And whatever you do, DO NOT TELL THE DIRECTOR! If he finds out I let this slide, I may not be here anymore. And I'm nice compared to some of the other people here. Remember: Challenge 1 is due at 20:00 EST on Jan 16, 2002. -jpringman

Mr. Pringman: (I guess I should call you Host?) Yeah yeah let's hope that the "Director" doesn't come to this board and see your message. -ethan

Thanks for the support Ethan. -jpringman

My clue is this: *The person in front of you has a favorite number which is one half of yours minus 150.* Therefore whoever has a favorite number which looks like upside down hockey sticks, you are sitting in front of me. -sandee

Oh My Gosh!! Forget that hockey stick thing! I just realized that I read my clue wrong. This does not look too good on me, does it? The person sitting in front of me has a favorite number which could be used to describe twins. -sandee

If you add 222 and then subtract 660 from the favorite number of the person in front of you, you will get your favorite number. this is my lovely clue, I hope it helps everyone so are we just suppose to figure out what order everyone is in or are we suppose to figure out their numbers too?? this one is sure hard for the first time -justin

I think we are just supposed to get the order of the people, not the numbers. You're correct though, Justin, I think they should have been a little easier on us on the very first challenge. -sandee

I have received word that there needs to be a clarification on one of the Rules of this Challenge. You may allude to the number, without any numerals. Even/odd, and digit placement ie. tens, hundreds, ones are Ok. Those 3 words are the only number type words allowed. The spelling of a number, a number in a different language, an arabic or roman numeral, or putting the letters in a code ie. the horse runs every errand (three) is not allowed. That is all. Carry On. -jpringman

I know we're not even close to having all of the clues yet, but as for what we do have, Omar and I are the only people who could be at the front of the line at the moment because our clues do not allude to there being anyone in front of us. Everyone elses clue says that there is someone in front. We are missing some clues though... -michael

my clue is this: The person in front of you has a favorite number in which the hundreds place is the same as your ones place. -li

hey, how come certain people haven't posted yet!!!!! that can screw us all over folks, I was also wondering, do we all post our List? thats what it sounds like to me -justin

Sorry about the delay folks. Just got things rolling here. Here is my clue: The person at the back's favorite number is the same as the amount of letters in his/her name. -joel

According to the rules we cannot say our favorite number. But it does not say I cannot say what someone else's favorite number is. Therefore, wothout telling you my clue (as that would give my number away) I will tell you that with my lcue I can deduce that the person sitting in the fifth seat's favorite number is 11. Unfortunately, I am away from home this week and may not be a lot of help, but hopefully this is will be of some assistance. -jeff

Can't you still say your clue Jeff you re still not actually saying your number. We just have to do the math ourselves. Hmmm I don't want to blow this challenge, but I think we could make a little progress if the only stipulation was that we can't actually say the numbers. -joel

Where's mysty? -jeff
